Das Gelände am Bogensee ist geprägt von der deutschen Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts: Ehemaliges Familiendomizil und Arbeitsplatz des Reichspropagandaministers, eine führende Ausbildungsstätte der DDR, lange Zeit der Natur überlassenes Areal. Gerade diese Spannung macht ihn zu einem prädestinierten Lernort für lebendige Transformation.

The Bogensee site is shaped by 20th-century German history: former family home and workplace of the Reich Minister of Propaganda, a leading training centre of the GDR, long left to nature. Precisely this tension makes it an ideal site for living transformation.

LUX versteht Bogensee als umkämpften Erinnerungsraum, der vor populistischer Vereinnahmung geschützt und durch offene Bildungsprozesse neu gedeutet werden muss. Durch künstlerische Forschung, ein geplantes Dokumentationszentrum und partizipative Formate soll ein Ort entstehen, an dem Geschichte, Gegenwart und Zukunft öffentlich verhandelt werden.

LUX sees Bogensee as a contested site of memory that must be protected from populist appropriation and reinterpreted through open educational processes. Through artistic research, a planned documentation centre, and participatory formats, a place is to be created where history, present, and future are publicly negotiated.

Ein Geschenk von den Filmstudios in Babelsberg an den NS-Reichspropagandaminister Goebbels als Familiensitz errichtet; zur Zeit der Luftangriffe auf Berlin schützender Hauptarbeitsort mit Privatbunker.

Built as a gift from the Babelsberg film studios to NS Reich Minister of Propaganda Goebbels as a family residence; during the air raids on Berlin, his primary protected workplace with a private bunker.

FDJ Leadership School

Wichtiger Ausbildungsort der DDR in unmittelbarer Nähe der Waldsiedlung Wandlitz, dem Wohnsitz der Honeckers; in den 1950er Jahren umfangreicher Ausbau.

Important GDR training site in the immediate vicinity of Waldsiedlung Wandlitz, the residence of the Honeckers; extensive expansion in the 1950s.

LUX – akademie neues bauhaus brandenburg e.V.

Gründung des eingetragenen gemeinnützigen Vereins mit dem Ziel, das Areal in Brandenburgs erste Kunst- und Musikhochschule zu verwandeln.

Founding of the registered non-profit association with the goal of transforming the site into Brandenburg's first academy of art and music.

Baujahr 1951–56 · ca. 5.700 m² · Ehem. Hauptunterrichtsgebäude der FDJ mit Bibliothek und Hörsaal für 500 Personen. Geplant: Bildende Kunst, Philosophie, Bibliothek, New Media, Exhibition Laboratory. Schwerer Brandschaden durch Großfeuer im Winter 2025/26.

Der Bogensee liegt rund 35 km nördlich von Berlin nahe Wandlitz im Landkreis Barnim. S2 bis Bernau, oder RB27 bis Wandlitz, von dort per Bus oder Fahrrad ins Areal. Mit dem Auto über die A11.

Bogensee lies approximately 35 km north of Berlin, near Wandlitz in the Barnim district. S2 to Bernau, or RB27 to Wandlitz, then bus or bicycle to the site. By car via the A11.

Wir denken Erreichbarkeit als Teil des pädagogischen Konzepts: ein Ort, der bewusst betreten wird – kein Drive-by-Campus, sondern ein Ankommen.

We see access as part of the pedagogical concept: a place that is consciously entered — not a drive-by campus, but an arrival.
